BREASTFEEDING ASSISTANCE DURING YOUR HOSPITAL STAY
Growing Expectations has a staff of Board Certified Lactation Consultants who will work closely with your and your baby during your hospital stay. Our knowledgeable staff is available six days a week, Monday thru Saturday.
PRIVATE LACTATION CONSULTS AND WARM LINE
One-on-One breastfeeding consultations are available with our Board Certified Lactation Consultants. A personal consultation includes a review of your breastfeeding history and a discussion of your specific concerns. During your appointment, a physical assessment for breastfeeding will be taken. This one hour appointment will include observation of a breastfeeding session and a plan of action for improved breastfeeding success. We know you may have breastfeeding questions after you have been discharged and our breastfeeding specialist is available to answer your brief questions during normal business hours. Please call our Warm Line at 408.871.7479 for assistance.
POST PARTUM SUPPORT GROUPS
We offer two weekly post partum support groups. At both support groups, the baby weigh scale by Medela is available for you to check your baby’s weight or to weigh a feeding. Both groups are run on a drop in format and there is no fee. Meet and make new friends from our community that can last a lifetime!
Our Breastfeeding Support Group meets on Thursdays from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm. This informal group setting is perfect for new breastfeeding mothers to share their experiences and have their questions answered by a lactation specialist.
Our New Mothers Support Group meets on Wednesdays from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. This group addresses a variety of newborn topics including post partum adjustment, newborn care and development. We provide guest speaks on a variety of topics that are of interest to new mothers and their families.
LACTATION CENTER BOUTIQUE
Our Lactation Center Boutique is conveniently located in The Family Birth Place across from the Nursery. You can purchase your basic breastfeeding supplies during your hospital stay without having to leaving the confines of your unit. We offer nursing bras, breast pumps and supplies, as well as, some cute toys, blankets and miscellaneous items ideal for your new bundle of joy. We carry a large selection of nursing and sleep bras with “difficult to find” larger sizes available. You will have access to a personal fitting by a certified staff member to ensure proper fit either during your hospital stay or after discharge. No appointment is necessary. Growing Expectations is happy to announce a new service for our mothers who find it difficult to travel to our boutique for their supplies. With either a quick phone call or an email, you can place your order! Growing Expectations will ship your order directly to you at no extra charge. Please call 408.866.3905 or email sharon.rea@tenethealth.com to place your first order. In addition to the sale of our retail pumps, Growing Expectations is also an Ameda rental pump station. If you require a rental pump for short or long term use, we offer the Ameda Lact-E Pump on a daily, weekly or monthly rental rate -- (3 to 6 month rates are also available). A certified lactation educator will be happy to work with you to assist in determining the best pump option to suit your individual needs.
